GREAT CHICAGO SCANDAL ENDS IN TEN ARRESTS • £200,000 INVOLVED CHICAGO, Thursday. The latest, if not the greatest, scandal in Chicago came to light today with the indictment of ten prominent political persons on charges of frauds involving more than £200,000. More than £BO,OOO was spent for cinders for the path, which in fact remains unused. Other allegations are unlawful and unauthorised expenditures of hundreds of thousands of dollars, in sums of 500 dollars,, to escape the law, which provides for competitive bidding where an outlay larger than 500 dollars is involved, and also extensive “padding” of pay rolls.
