NEW GOODS SHED
CONTRACT LET TO CITY FIRM BUILDING TO COST £21 : 557 The contract for the new inward goods shed in the Auckland railway yards has been let to J. T. Julian and Son. Ltd., builders of the new station. The contract price of the shed is £21,557. Work will start within a few weeks. The new inward goods *tehed will be 240 ft long by 100 ft wide, and will , front on to Beach Road, slightly north of the new station. A handsome front will be in keeping with the new station. Along the Beach Road frontage there will be a block of offices for the staff. In the shed itself there will be every modern appliance for the quick transfer of goods. Roller shutter doors are to be used so that all goods will have full protection from the weather. Inward goods are at present handled in temporary sheds on the waterfront. These will do duty until the new and up-to-date shed is complete. The new shed is part of the general scheme of reconstruction of the Auckland railway yards which is now near- . ing completion.
