GLENSTAR’S OUTINGS

KEPT FOR HACK RACES MARBLE KING A MUDLARK Te Aroha trainer G. Reid’s representatives at Ellerslie for next week’s racing are Glenstar and Marble King, but owing to the former's consistency since relegated to the hurdle ranks, it is he who will be regarded as the sheet-anchor of the stable. After his runaway win over the hurdles at Te Rapa in the late autumn, Glenstar was regarded as an embryo champion, and many put in on him when he made the trip to Hawera last month for hurdle engagements there. But most of the money was left there, and it appeared as if Glenstar lacked stamina, while his jumping found room for improvement. The Day Comet gelding was put over four of the hurdles on the course proper at Ellerslie yesterday, and completed them to satisfaction, although he did not fence with his customary dash. However, no doubt for, his first attempt pace was not desired. Glenstar did not continue his contract in the Northern Hurdles, and is reserved for the hack races. The shorter distances will make him a possibility. Because of his partiality to winter tracks. Marble King cannot be overlooked during the fixture, notwithstanding that he has been a “passenger” in the stable since scoring a sprint win at Trentham last July. He may need a race—there are a few exceptions which don’t —but the Marble Arch gelding made a pleasing impression while working the other morning at Ellerslie, and he does look wellconditioned and ready to shape accordingly.
