SCHOOL CHOIR CONTEST
COMPETITION IN HAMILTON From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Today. The Theatre Royal was packed with parents and children today for the school choir competitions in connection with the Winter Show. The judge was Mr. Varley Hudson, of Auckland Results: Challenge Cup for 16 voices, “May Day*”:—Parawera, 148 points, 1: Matangi and Hillcrest, tied ,with 147 points, 2; Raglan, 136 points, 4. Winter Show Challenge Cup, 16 voices, two-part song, “Ye Mariners”: —Raglan, 162 points, 1: Whitiora, 156 points, 2; Hamilton East, 151 points. Challenge Cup. 24 voices, two-part song, “See Our Oars”:—Forest Lake. 179 points, 1; Whitiora, 177 points. 2; Frankton, 170 points, 3. The judge said that the winning choir in the last class was the best he has heard in the Auckland Province in the B class siitce he started judging Parker Hill Challenge Cup, 40 voices, three-part song, “Night Hymn at Sea”:—Whitiora. 169 points. 1; Hamilton West and Hamilton East tied with 167 points, 2; Huntly, 157 points, 3; Frankton, 127 points, 4.
