SIAOSI BACK
MAKES AN APPEARANCE AT TAUMARUNUI As he has not raced since the Rotulua meeting last season, tSiaosi’s reappearance in the Farewell Handicap at raumarunui on Saturday was not seriously considered, and lie carried less money than anything in the'race. The position was summed up correctly, for after being in the middle of the field the Elysian gelding gradually dropped out to finish at the back. However, the race will effect a big improvement in Siaosi’s condition, and for later engagements he will be more ready to do himself justice. The prospects of H. L. Russell’s fine jumper winning a race or two this winter look bright, and if it is decided to take him j to Riecarton for the Grand Nationals, | as previously announced, he will have many friends. KING’S JEST HERE King’s Jest, a fancied Great Northern Hurdles candidate, arrived this morning. He will probably be schooled at Ellerslie on Thursday morning. King’s Jest had a schooling over che hurdles at Napier Park last week, getting through his task in a satisfactory manner.
