CHINESE ROBBED
THREE MEN CONCERNED MONEY STOLEN FROM TILL Threatened by three men, said to have entered his shop at 11S Jervois Road, Ponsonby, shortly after nine o'clock on Tuesday evening, Wah Lee, a Chinese laundryman, was compelled to let them take the contents of the till, about 8s in silver. Wah Lee was in the back of the shop, and on hearing a noise, walked through to the counter. Three men were there and, brushing him aside, ordered him to give up his money. One of them produced something from his coat and pointed it at Lee, but the frightened Chinese did not see if it was a revolver. He told them to take all the money in the shop, at the same time lifting his hands above his head. When the men left Wah Lee reported the matter to the Ponsonby police, and it was later reported to the detective office. He could not give a description of the men. The incident is being investigated by Detectives O’Sullivan and MeWhirter.
The police state that there was no suggestion of the use of a gun by any of the three men.
