HUMAN BODY MARVELS

LECTURE BY MR. M. WALKER Under the auspices of the Auckland branch of the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection, a lecture was given by Mr. Matthew Walker in the Fountain of Friendship Hall last evening. Speaking on “The Marvels of the Human Machine,” Mr. Walker said that every drop of blood in the human body contained 34,000,000 white corpuscles and 5,000,000 red corpuscles, and in an average human body there were 300.000,000.000 red corpuscles. The human liver contained 14,000,000,000 cells and each cell contained 04,000.000.000 molecules. The human body contained 250 bones. 500 muscles and 32 feet of alimentary canal. There were 10,000.000 nerves.

Livery conceivable mechanical contrivance, said Mr. Walker, was represented in the human body. He detailed mechanics represented in the body and said it had a complete telegraph and telephone system.
