Grattan (Melbourne) chose a briar rose frock of chiffon. Mrs. E. Alison wore a spray of orchids on the shoulder of her parchment lace frock. Rose and black figured georgette, the pattern outlined with black beads, fashioned the gown worn by Mrs. J. Kingston. Mrs. Borrie was wearing a smart gown of unrelieved black georgette. YOUNG PEOPLE ARRANGE SOCIAL EVENING

There was a good attendance at a social held in the vestry of the Morrinsville Methodist Church last Wednesday evening, when the Rev. F. Gardner Brown and Mrs. Brown were the guests of the Young People’s Club and the Bible Class. A pleasant evening was spent in games and musical items. Those contributing items were: Mr. and Mrs. Brown, duet; Mr. Jack Osbourne, recitation; Misses A. Thomas, G. Eastwood and L. Best. humorous sketch. Competitions were won by Miss R. Marra and Mrs. Parr. On behalf of the young people of the church Miss Hetherington welcomed the new minister and his wife, and the girls sang a welcome chorus. In responding, Mr. Brown said they were very happy to have an opportunity of working among the young people. He wished the young people to think of himself and Mrs. Brown as their friends at all times.

SUCCESSFUL DANCE

TERRIERS’ FOOTBALL CLUB AT MORRINSVILLE The dance held by the Terriers’ Football Club in the Regent Theatre on Thursday evening proved very successful. A special feature was the excellent music provided by Shalfoon’s Orchestra from Rotorua. The management was in the capable hands of a committee comprising Messrs. A Gsl- - c. Mallett and X. F. Barker ard Mesdames Chapman, Barker. Hooper and Peterson. The supper tables were decorated in black and white, as was also the orchestral platform, which was arranged in the centre of the hall to add a touch of novelty to the scene.
