DANCE PARTY TO CELEBRATE COMING-OF-AGE

EVENING AT PAPATOETOE Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Smytheman, of Papatoetoe, were host and hostess at a very enjoyable evening, held in the Renown Hall, Papatoetoe on Saturday evening, in honour of the coming-of-age of their eldest son, Leslie. Music for dancing was provided by Mrs. T. H. C. Partridge. Aiisses Edith Heath, Audrey Fitness, Gladys Grainger and Guelda Fitness. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Aliss Dorothy Foster and Air. Hicks. Between the dances a number of amusing and novelty competitions were held, the successful competitors being Aliss Kathleen Leonard, Aliss Flo Smytheman and Aliss Guelda Fitness. Air. W. J. Hindman carried out the duties of master of ceremonies. The supper tables were decorated with multi-coloured streamers and bowls of autumn flowers. The health of the guest of honour was proposed by Mr. U. Smytheman. Air. Eric Burton, in a happy speech, presented Air. L. Smytheman with the key of the door. A dainty frock of peach lace, with finishings of georgette, and posy buttonhole, was worn by Airs. T. R. Smytheman, to receive the guests. Among those present were: Airs. A. H. Smytheman, wearing a frock of unrelieved black crepe de chine; Airs. T. Smytheman, who wore a frock of beaded jersey cloth; Airs. J.
