Flannels were the order of the day, and a crowded floor greeted the social committee. The usual extras of balloons, changing lights and novelty dances were provided. The social committee of the club has had very great success in its plans to raise money to equip the club members, with new boats, and the Shore Club can now boast of having one of the finest clubs about Auckland. Mesdames Seager, Sharp, Farquliarson, Butland and Misses Porter, Tatton and Norris have been mainly responsible for the sustained efforts, extending over two years, that have been made by the social committee. Gar* land, who is shortly to be married, was the guest of honour at a very bright gift party given by Miss A, Nelson. Games, competitions and afternoon tea passed the afternoon very quickly. HIGH SCHOOL DANCE BRIGHT COSTUME GATHERING AT ROTORUA The annual fancy dress ball arranged by pupils of the Rotorua District High School was held in the new Alajestic Ball Room and proved a huge success. The costumes worn were of a very varied nature. Tb« Shalfoon Melody Boys supplied excellent music. The judges difficulty in awarding the prizes for the fancy costumes and eventually announced the best girl to be Winifred Daloraore, as Victorian Period; best boy, R.
