PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD

The Papakura Town Board met last evening, Air. James McCall presiding. The Manukau County Council wrote declining to share the cost of an electric light at the Papakura northern boundary. It was decided to again approach the county and to point out the light was of no advantage to Papakura residents, but would be of great assistance to through motor traffic. The No. 2 Highways Council in a leter to the board suggested grouping of the counties for the purpose of traffic inspection. The suggestion was the counties'be grouped and the Highways Board would pay a subsidy of two-thirds toward the cost of traffic inspection, the Highways Board to be the controlling authority. It was decided to refer the scheme to the traffic control committee for a report. The Finance Committee’s recommendation to lease the property occupied by the Papakura Tennis Club was adopted, the rental to be £ S per annum and the lease to be for a period of five years.
