Suburban Games Off
RAIN CAUSES ABANDONMENT Resumption Next Saturday THE onset of a driving shower, after the third series of Suburban matches had been in progress only Half nu hour, compelled abandonment of play for the day at the Domain on Saturday afternoon. A downpour just before starting time, 2 o’clock, necessitated half an hour's wait to ascertain if the wickets were in tit condition to play before the games were got under way. When at 3 o'clock a heavy, driving rain set in, the teams doggedly held on for 20 min. utes, hoping against hope for a cessation. And then, after stumps were drawn for the day the weather broke! The weather clerk was certainly in a most unkind mood to cricketers. The wickets were hard, though greasy on top. favouring the batsmen during the brief playing period. The ovtfields were dead.
