M.C.C. ADVANCE GUARD

WOOLLEY AND BOWLEY ARRIVE “EXCEPTIONALLY BAD LUCK” Special to THE SUN WELLINGTON, Today. That the M.C.C. team had not been able to do itself justice in Australia, owing to an exceptional run of bad luck in the form 6f injuries and sickness to various members, was the opinion of the former Auckland professional player-coach, E. H. Bowley, who arrived at Wellington yesterday morning, along with F. E. Woolley and W. Cornford, from Australia. Bowley, who is suffering from neuritis, will probably require special treatment, and was examined by a specialist soon after his arrival. He was advised to go to Rotorua for three weeks’ treatment, and lie leaves by the Limited express tomorrow night. There was no doubt about the side being a good one all round, Bowley said. It was very strong in batting, and it had four fast-medium bowlers, Nichols, in fact, being a fast bowler, and Allom, Barratt and Worthington, of the fastmedium style. The three Englishmen were met on the Marama by officials of the Wellington Cricket Association. Frank Woolley, who is accompanied by his wife and three-year-old daughter, is making his first visit to New Zealand. “You will find that when they get a start they will all play bright cricket,” he said. “They are a young side, and you will find that they are a fine lot of fellows. While they are anxious to see as much as they can of New Zealand, fhey are coming to do the best they can to help your cricket.” '
