ALMOST SPEECHLESS
INTOXICATED DRIVER CHASED NO LICENCE FOR TWO YEARS From Our Oxen Correspondent HAMILTON. Today “The public must be protected against these sort of men and it is the duty of a magistrate to see this type kept off the road,” remarked Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Hamilton Police Court today when James Lawless, 61, was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a car. The evidence showed that defendant drove his vehicle past the Frankton Police Station on Saturday evening in a reckless manner. He was lolling over the wheel and the car pursued an erratic course. The police gave chase on a motor-cycle and arrested Lawless, who was so drunk he could hardly speak. Defendant was fined £2O, and his licence was cancelled £or two years.
