FABIAN CLUB ADDRESS
PHILOSOPHY OF SOCIALISM The usual weekly meeting of tbe Fabian Club was held on Saturday when Mr. Taylor presided over a large attendance. The speaker was Mr. C. W. Boswell. M.A., who discussed the philosophy of* Socialism. He developed the Thesis that the Socialist ideal was consistent with the Christian doctrine that man’s chief end is to glorify God. The intelligence—the Divine Artist—responsible for man was honoured or glorified by the perfect consummation of his plan, which is the complete happiness of man, as a unit in the organism called society. This was the goal of tho Socialist, who, with the Christian, agreed in the need of the individual to function as a part of society. A debate followed the address, the speakers being Drs. Hastings and Finlay, Miss A. Greville, and Messrs. Blood worth, Harrison, Anderton, Montgomerie, Richards and Grant.
