BRIDGE OVER TAMAKI
PLANS FOR REBUILDING The schemes of the Main Highways Board for rebuilding and widening the Tamaki Bridge were discussed at a conference of delegates of the Otahuhu Borough Council and the Manukau County Council at Otahuhu yesterday. It was decided that the two councils should adopt the No. 1 scheme. The meeting considered that the question of a wider carriageway than that suggested by the board should be further considered before the scheme was fully approved. The question of the proportion of costs to be charged to the local bodies concerned, as suggested by the Highways Board, was discussed. Delegates said that at present they were not prepared to accept any set proportion of the cost, and further desired to know to what extent other local bodies would be asked to contribute.
