SEVEN RECORDS BROKEN GATHERING AT PAERATA Seven records were broken at the annual athletic sports of the "Wesley Methodist College, Paerata, yesterday. A light wind in the forenoon dried the track out nicely, with the result that fast times were registered in most of the events. The winner of the senior championship. M. Walters, established the following new records:—l2oyds hurdles. ITsec: 220yds, 27 4-ssec; 440yds, 63 4-ssec; shot put, 34ft lOin. He also equalled the school record for the 100 yards, llsec. Another record was broken by R. Kaho, who threw the cricket ball S 3 yards 3 inches. In the senior and junior mile races, both the old records were severely han.dled, W. Busby clipping 36see off the junior event, and J. Farland winning the senior race in smin 46 3-ssec, 16sec better than the old record. Walters won the senior championship by a big margin, and H. Luke gained a similar honour in the junior event. The exact points scored in the two championships are not yet available, as there are other events, including the steeplechase, to be added.
