MR. C. G. WIGHTMAN The death is announced from Timaru of Cressie Graham Wightman, secretary of the Timaru Harbour Board, after a short illness.—P.A. MR. J. M. JOHNSTONE The death lias occurred at Palmergton North of John Moore Johnstone, secretary of the Manawatu Racing Club, treasurer of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, and a member of the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society, at the age of 71 years.— P.A. MR. B. P. LETHBRIDGE Tho death has occurred at Wanganui of Mr. Bennet P. Lethbridge, aged 62 years, of Annbank, Turakina. Mr. Lethbridge was formerly chairman of the Wanganui Hospital Board and the Rangitikei County Council. MR MATTHEW JOHNSON Mr. Matthew Johnson, DeputyMayor of Hastings, died yesterday at the ago of 61 years. He had lived in Hastings for nearly 40 years, during which time he took an active interest in its affairs. MR. THOMAS BELL The death is announced from Pahiatua of Mr. Thomas Bell, aged 90. The Bell family lived alone on Sunday Island, in the Kermadec Group, for 10 years, and Mr. Bell for a long time fought a claim with the New Zealand Government for freehold land. He had an interesting career in the South Seas. His one daughter. Mrs. Gelderd, lives at Pahiatua. —P.A. MR. J. W. ROSS Mr. John William Ross, who died suddenly at his home in College Road on Friday at the age of 62, was well known in League football and aquatic circles. He was a partner in the firm of Wilkinson and Ross, engineers, and had lived in Auckland for nearly 40 years. Mr. Ross was president of the Newton Rugby League Football Club and was one of the trustees of Carlaw Park, having been one of tlie selectors of the area. He was a life member of the Power-Boat Association and at one time he was official starter in the Auckland Anniversary Day regattas. Tho interment took place at Purewa Cemetery on Sunday. Canon Haselden conducting the services at the home and the graveside. In addition to relatives, friends and employees of Mr. Ross, representatives of sporting bodies were present at the funeral.
