GOLF TOURNEY FINAL
NORTON RETURNS BEST BOGEY CARD PLAY AT TITIRANGI Ideal playing conditions which have favoured the Maungakiekie Golf Club’s tourney at the Titirangi links were experienced again today, when the tourney concluded with the playing-off in the final of the various competitions, including the Titirangi Cup. Play started at nine o’clock this morning with a bogey competition, the semi-finals of the Titirangi Cup and the final of the groups matches. With the greens and fairways suitable for good golf, some fine cards were returned in all matches. L. Norton managed a five-up score in the bogey competition, his card being the best returned in any of the bogey competitions during the tourney. Ilis drives were strong, while lie made some excellent approaches. Out of the 18 holes he managed 13 bogeys for “birdies,” and in the medal round made a score of SO, which took him nine under the scratch score of the course. Following are the results: BOGEY HANDICAP L. Norton, 5 up; H. S. McLaren, 1 up; G. Tallis, all square; G. Wynyard. all square; H. A. Randrup, all square. GROUP MATCHES No. 1 Group, final.—Randrup beat Sandel, 2 up. No. 3 Ctrout), final.—Wynyard beat Mofiit, 5 and 3.' No. 4 Group, final.—Baker beat Taylor, 2 up. No. 5 Group, final.—Rogerson beat Greenbank at the 20th. No. 6 Group, final.— Ganley beat Brooker and Spinley. TITIRANGI CUP Semi-finals. —McLean beat McCrystall, 5 and 4; Joplin beat Robinson, 4 and 3.
