MINE TUMBLES ON DECK
AUSTRALIAN FISHERMEN STARTLED RELIC OF RAIDER WOOLF (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 10.35 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. A German mine, apparently one of those which was laid in the track of shipping off Gabo Island by the raider Wolf in 1917, was recovered by the trawler Koraaga, near Cape Everard. The trawl had been dragging on the ocean bottom in 65 fathoms, and those of the crew with mine-sweeping experience were startled when the mine tumbled out on the deck. It was about four feet high, with a diameter of two feet, and weighed five hundredweight. It is thought that the mine is now harmless, but naval men will examine it today.
