HAURAKI PLAINS DRAINAGE
The position of trustees on the Northern Drainage Board is not sought after and only three nominations the five seats were received by returning officer this week. Applicj*' tions will therefore be made to thv Governor-General-in-Council to appoint two suitable men in terms of sub-section 3 of section 10 of the Lands Drainage Act, 1908. The nominations received were Messrs. G. Buchanan, for the Northern area, and B. Halligan and F. T. V. Johnson, for the Awaiti area, no nomination being received for the ‘‘H Drain area, previously represented by Messrs. J. A. Reid and E. A. Chester. Messrs. Buchanan, Halligan and Johnson are members of the present board. For‘the Hauraki Plains West Board there are six nominations for the five seats. In addition to the sitting members Messrs. A. Douglas, J. Motion, A ■ H. McClean, T. A. McClean and W. Parfitt and Mr. J. T. Darlington, Xgatea, have been nominated. An election will be held on November 4.
