AKARANA YACHT CLUB DANCES
The final of the long and successful season of Saturday evening dances organised by the Akarana Yacht Club will be held this evening. From Wednesday next weekly dances will be held on Wednesdays, with flannels optional. The usual excellent dancing facilities will be available.
When the U.S.S. Henderson, the j famous marine transport which has I seen so much service and action in J Asiatic water, steamed up San" Francisco Bay recently, with scenes of great activity among the marines and officers aboard, Gossip began circulating among passengers on ferry and other boats in the bay as to the cause of it. As usual each little rumour was magnified no end until it was learnt that the occasion was simply caused by Raoul Walsh, the Fox Film director, making important scenes aboard the transport, for “The Cockeyed World,” the long-awaited sequel to “What Price Glory*.” Joan Bennett, who Is featured in “Bulldog Drummond,” starring Ronald Colman. soon starts her fifth talkie. “The Song of Broadway,” for United Artists. Her rich contralto voice w*ill be heard in three songs. “With You” is the only song so far that has been definitely decided upon. The others will be announced later.
