MISS CULLING WINS

AUCKLAND LADIES’ GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP Miss E. Culling defeated Mrs. R. L. Wilson (Tit - rangi). 4 up and 3 in the final of the Auckland Provincial Ladies' Golf Championship at the Middlemore links yesterday afternoon. After wet weather for the opening rounds, the conditions yesterday for the final were perfect. The finalists were followed by a gallery of several hundred. Miss Culling won the first hole in l to J. and the second was halved in five. At the third hole Mrs. Wilson made big efforts to retrieve her position, but Miss Culling won the holes. 4 to 6, and was thus 2 up. The fourth hole saw Miss Culling 3 up. and the fifth was halved in six. The sixth hole was halved in four, but at the seventh Mrs. Wilson holed out in two. thus reducing Miss shilling's lead to 2 up. Mrs. Wilson had another chance to take the eighth hole, but she hooked her second, and th hole was halved in five, leaving Miss Culling still 2 up. The ninth was halved in six. and the tenth in four, leaving the position unaltered. Miss Culling holed out in 3 at tlio eleventh. Mrs. Wilson talcing five. This increased Miss Culling’s lead to 3 up. The twelfth was halved in fives, and the thirteenth in four, leaving Miss Culling still 3 up.
