MILLION FROM TOURISTS
VALUE TO DOMINION NEED FOR PUBLICITY Press Association PALMERSTON N., Saturday. The announcement that he is engaged on preliminary organisation for pursuing an intensive publicity campaign was made this morning by the Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle, Minister in Charge of Publicity. The Minister said many inquiries had been made by prospective American visitors, whose intention was to come to New Zealand for sight-seeing and fishing. “I am having "an early conference with all departmental heads with regard to a vigorous campaign in Australia and throughout New Zealand. Already it has been started in the Commonwealth. “I look upon publicity as an important industry,” said the Minister. “Last year we received a million of foreign capital from tourists. I hope there will be a considerably greater sum in the next 12 months.” The Minister said he hoped that with the Melbourne-Bluff steamer service revived the Australian tourists would arrive at Bluff for tours of the Dominion. Mr. de la Perrelle has gone to Wanganui and New Plymouth.
