BURGLARS SENTENCED

COURT SITS IN WELLINGTON Press Association WELLINGTON, Friday. In the Supreme Court this morning MacGregor Henry Eccles Pearce, for breaking, entering and theft, and two charges of theft and two charges of theft of postal packets, was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention. A plea was made that accused was infatuated with a woman, but his Honour agreed with the probation officer, who did not recommend probation. Cyril George Millar, on eight charges of breaking, entering and theft, rei ceived two years’ imprisonment. Thomas Henry Hale, on seven charges ; was committed to Borstal for four years. Douglas Symes, alias Robert Forbes 1 Raverty, for breaking and entering by night and theft at Taihape, was given four years’ imprisonment. Symes is at present serving a term of four years

and his Honour said he trusted that at the end of the sentence now given the authorities would see he, was sent back to Australia.

Frank Clark, on 10 charges of breaking. entering and theft, one of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, and one of theft, received four years.
