REBEL TRIBESMEN SCORE VICTORIES KING'S DESPERATE BID (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) DELHI, Friday. The rebel King Bacchasakao, who is harassed by rebel tribesmen led by General Nadir Khan and his brothers and upset by intrigues and disloyalty in Kabul, is now making a desperate bid to retain the throne. He has offered a reward of £IO,OOO for the capture of General Nadir Khan, dead or alive. It is reported from Peshawar that the King’s leading general, Khan Mohammad. has been captured, together with a division of troops, by Tagharl tribesmen and brigands. The King’s forces have also been driven from Gardez, an important point strategically. In ironic contrast with the civil war that is being waged throughout the country. Kabul celebrated the 10th anniversary of the independence of Afghanistan.
