MOTORING BREACHES
WARNINGS ADVOCATED FOR MINOR OFFENCES A warning for the first minor breach of a by-law or motor regulation was a suggestion for the police at the annual meeting of the North Island Motor Union, held in Auckland yesterday. Members stated that the Auckland and Wellington City Councils adopted a corrective policy, and motorists were given a chance to recognise their errors. I'here had also been complaints of delayed action by the police. A resolution was carried asking that the police should issue warnings to first offenders, and where prosecutions were intended, should leave notices in unattended cars and forward details of the charge to the motorist by mail.
