FANCY DRESS BALL

OTAHUHU CHILDREN’S PARTY The Otahuhu Public Hall was prettily decorated last week on the occasion of the PLoly Trinity Sunday School children's annual fancy dress ball. A canopy of multi-coloured streamers was suspended over the dance floor, and a string 1 of gay pennants added colour to the decorative scheme. The duties of masters of ceremony were carried out by the Rev. C. B. W. Seton and Mr. A. Murdoch. A splendid musical programme was provided by Mrs, Andrew’s orchestra. Between dances a very enjoyable programme of musical items was provided by Mr. Alan McElwain, Miss Joan Fearnley, Miss Joy McAnulty, Miss Ray Norris, Miss Knight, action song by the scholars of the kindergarten school, exhibition of eurhythmies by pupils of Miss Eileen Gilfedder, Gipsy chorus by pupils of Miss Greenwood. The judging was carried out by Mrs. Howard and Miss Parton, and their awards, which met with the full approval of the large gathering, were as follow: Best fancy, costume: Boys, 7 and over, Dick Fenton, as a Huntsman. Best fancy costume, girls, 7 and over, Phyllis Mullins, as a Pom Pom. Most original costume, boys, 7 and over, Willie Morrin, as the Order of the Bath. Most original costume, girls, 7 and over, Hilda Kevey, as a Bunch of Rhubarb. Best fancy costume, boys, under 7, Roy Gibb, as a Cowboy. Best fancy costume, girls, under 7, Ronda Hunton, as Queen Elizabeth. Most original costume, boys, under 7, Ross Jenkins, as “What a Corker!" Most original costume, girls, under 7, Sylvia Boys, as a Maori Wahine. Other children present in fancy costume were:—Ray McDell, John Atlva.
