OHINEMOA STOCK SOLD
OVER £l9 AVERAGE FOR PEDIGREES DISTRICT BUYERS BUSY (From Our Own Correspondent) TE KTJITI, Friday. The “Ohinemoa” registered Aberdeen Angus cattle of Mr. F. B. Hardy, Poro-o-Tarao, were sold at Te Kuiti saleyards yesterday. The sale attracted a large attendance of buyers from ail parts of the North Island. The cattle were penned in excellent condition. They represented some of the best blood in the Dominion and were a splendid advertisement for the district, particularly as they had been running on high bush country. There was spirited bidding. Local and Waikato buyers were prepared to pay higher prices than Southern visitors. Many of the well-bred cattle were retained for the district. The top price for pedigree cows was 51 guineas, paid by Mr. R. King, of Te Puke, who also purchased the fouryear bull, Arthur of Ohinemoa, at the same figure. The highest value for three-year heifers was 26 gLiineas, paid by Mr. Purdie, of Mahoenui. The best of the yearling bulls was purchased by Mr. Wilfred Johnstone at 30 guineas, and the average for tho 39 registered cows was 2l£ guineas. Seven threeyear heifers averaged 19 guineas, 1C two-year heifers, 3 2?j guineas; and 12 yearling heifers, S guineas. Mature bulls averaged 3Si guineas; four twoyear bulls, 32 guineas; and 16 yearling bulls, 152 guineas. Including the yearling and two-year-old cattle, all the pedigrees averaged the high figure of £l9 4s. With the grade cattle, the run cows made from £l4 17s to £l3 ss; empty two-year heifers, £9 6s to £8 12s 6d; yearling heifers, £6 11s to £6 ss; yearling steers, £7; and two to threeyear steers, £lO 9s to £9 12s.
