WEDNESDAY’S COMMUNITY SING According to the committee, the last Community Sing of the season, which will be held in the Town Hall on "Wednesday, will be the greatest ever held in the Dominion. Mr. Vernon Drew will be in the chair, and associated with him in songs, choruses, stories, stunts and song-letTd-ing will be Messrs. Len Barnes, H. J. Beavis, T. S. Bellamy, G. Grey Campbell, C. E. Clarke, Archie Eon, L. A. Eady, M. Guthrie, W 4 Metcalf, M. Nola, R. L. Paterson, H. Stewart, N. Tucker, Arthur Wilson, W. Woodhead, the Rev. Jasper Calder, and “Uncle Tom” (Mr. T. T. Garland). Mrs. Barrington Snow and Mrs. M. E. Osborne will be the joint accompanists.
CLEARING SALE HELD Sound cows averaged fully £l4 at a clearing sale on behalf of the estate of the late Mr. John Ormsby, conducted by Dalgety and Company, Limited, at Te Kuiti. Dairy cows sold under the keenest competition. Best cows in milk brought £l4 10s to £l6 10s, and best springing cows, £l7 to £l9. MINING NEWS WAIHI—The following information has been cabled to the London office of the Waihi Goldmining Company:—Xo. S Level: In the crosscut to the south-east from the east end of the Alexandra drive, the Empire Lode was intersected at 129 ft. The first 4ft assays 2Ss 3d a ton. We have driven to the east on the northern part 16ft for ventilating. The assay value is 32s 3d a ton. No. 9 Level: N T orth Leader: The Peach rise has been put up 45ft, the assay value for this distance being 49s 6d a ton.
