PIONEERS’ REUNION
PASSENGERS ON SAILER FAMENOTH 103 DAYS’ VOYAGE Fifty years ago, on the ninth of next month, tlio ship Famenoth reached Auckland from Plymouth. There is an effort in the city to hold a reunion of passengers who came to New Zealand on the vessel, on the anniversary of the date of arrival. Mrs. A. Sullivan, of Parnell, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. McQuarrie, passengers on the Famenoth, is arranging for the reunion. Nearly a dozen passengers have been communicated with already and other letters will follow. Two passengers have been found in Otorohanga, two in Devonport, and two in Ponsonby. A former Mayor of Otahuhu, Mr. R. B. Todd, was a passenger. Captain Auld commanded the Famenoth. and he used to remark on the calm weather voyages invariably made by the vessel. On the trip concerned in the reunion, the ship took 103 days to come from England.
