Banks Sell Freely THE market has a decidedly brighter tone and considerable business is being recorded. New Zealand Insurance have eager buyers at 47s 6d, sellers 48s 6d. Business in the r- Bank section is exceptionally brisk.
Yesterday afternoon's business.—On 'Change: Taupiri Coal (ord.), £1 9s 9d; Devonport Steam Ferry, £1 Is 3d; JSandford (ord.), 18s 6d. Reported.—Bank of New South Wales, £52; Ohinemuri Gold and Silver, 10s 6d. Business at this morning’s early rail. —On ’Change: Bank of New Zealand, £3 3s 6d. Business at today’s rnid-day call.— On ’Change: Renown Collieries (pref.), 3s Id. Reported.—Bank of New Zealand, £ 3 3s 6d; New Zealand Insurance, £2 Vs; Devonport Steam Ferry, £1 Is 3d: N.Z. Farmers’ Fertilizer, £1 2s; Mount Lyell. £2 4s 6d. * * * The Industrial section continues to indicate a brighter tone. Dominion Pictures have eager buyers. Electrolytic Zinc, both issues, remain firm. Grey and Menzies, exdiv., are still in demand. Sandford preference are exceptionally firm. Wilson’s Cement remain steady. * • • Shipping is showing more activity and keen bidding is being registered in this section. Devonport Ferry sold last evening and again this morning at 21s 3d, leaving little change in the market. Northern Steam remain
quiet. More inquiry is shown for P. and 0., and buyers are moving upwards. Union Steam have persistent buyers at 20s 9d. c ♦ ft A steady demand continues for all insurance shares. National are firm, market about 16s sd. Queensland and South British are both firm. * * * The mining section continues to attract a fair number of investors, and occasionally sales are being transacted. Ohinemuri continue to advance.
