RAMSAY MACDONALD
TO VISIT UNITED STATES IN OCTOBER HIS DAUGHTER WITH HIM (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Received 10.10 a.m. WASHINGTON, Thursday. The British Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, is expected to arrive in the United States to visit President Hoover between October 1 and October 10, accompanied by his daughter Ishbel and a small personal staff. The British Ambassador, Sir Esme Howard, has extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to be his guest at the Embassy, but it is considered probable that President Hoover will desire to have Mr. MacDonald stay at the "White House for part of the visit at least.. The British Embassy has issued a statement to the effect that Miss Islibel MacDonald will accompany the Prime Minister on his visit to the United States, apparently partially to emphasise the informality of the trip. It is reported that Mr. MacDonald’s visit in October will cause the postponement of the visit of the British warship, but soon after the Prime Minister departs the flagship Dispatch will pay a courtesy call.
