FRIENDLY SOCIETIES The Auckland Friendly Societies’ open full rinks tourney will be played on Saturday, August 31, and September 7, commencing each day at 1.30 p.m. Many of the competitors are not regular indoor bowlers, so • the friendly societies are providing all the bowls and carpets .required. At a meeting of the management committee held recently, it was decided to finish the pairs tourney on Saturday, September 21, as it was realised that many of the competitors, being outdoor bowlers, might wish to be free on that date. The champion singles will be played on September 28 and October 5. Entries close on Thursday, September 12. The visit to Helensville will be on Saturday, September 14.. The buses leave at 2 p.m., and return from Helensville after dinner on Sunday. Seats should be reserved by Saturday, September 7, to enable accommodation to be booked.
