Dunedin Club Holds Bright Costume Party

Enjoyable Plain and Fancy Dress Dance MUSIC AND CARDS Erstwhile Dunedinites meet on a friendly plane in Auckland through the medium of the Dunedin Club, and there was an exceptionally large attendance of members and friends at the monthly gathering at the Jewish Club rooms last evening. A PLAIN and fancy-dress dance was the principal attraction, with bridge in the cosy anteroom for card enthusiasts. The Kit Kat Orchestra was responsible for an enlivening programme, while the ballroom with its gala decorations and gaily-attired dancers had a very festive aspect. Airs. Iv. Raymond, who is hostess for the club, received in a handsome black pailleted georgette gown, with drooping side draperies bordered with black fur. and a shoulder scarf of black lace and gold tissue. Bridge prizes were won by Air. and Airs. Allum and Airs. E. C. Johnson. Prizes for the best and most original fancy dresses were awarded to Aliss Alunro Clark as a Persian Lady, Air. Allen, as Rajah of Bong, Air. Elliot, as a Scot, Aliss Siedeberg, as the “Old Woman With Too Alany Children.” Among the guests were:—Airs. Beatrice Elliott as a Gipsy Fortune Teller; Air. C. A. Kenneth Gordon wore a flame and gold tissue frock and amber embossed wrap. Airs. Chas. Alunn wore a dainty frock of goblin-green sprigged taffeta, the skirt edged with gold lace. Airs. Lowry wore black georgette with a cherry embossed shawl. Airs. AlcGruer was gowned in black, with a salmon pink wrap. Aliss Alma McGruer was in blush pink georgette. Aliss Lorna AlcGruer was in a picture frock of silvered hyacinth blue. Aliss AlcGhie were a primrose and green patterned georgette frock. All's. Driscoll was in black and silver, with silver beaded bridge coat. Airs. A. IT. Budger wore black mariette. Airs. A. Bridger was in amber ring velvet. Airs. Hamer chose floral taffeta in pastel shade. Airs. J. Alacfarlane had on amethyst crepe de chine. Airs. Hamilton was in black jetted net. Airs. Esther was wearing black and golden ring velvet, and a velvet wrap. Airs. AlcCartney’s graceful frock was powder blue georgette, with handkerchief draperies of blue alternating with mauve. Airs. Ford had on cyclamen georgette and gold tissue. Airs. Faulkner wore a black georgette gown and floral shawl in tones of jade green ancl russet. Aliss AlcDonnel! wore an oyster chenille frock and oriental velvet coatee. Aliss E. AlcDonnell had on cerise ring velvet, with floral bridge coat. Airs. Allum wore a golden chenille figured frock. Mrs. E. C. Johnson had on a coral pink taffeta frock with skirt of ecru lace. Airs. H. F. Wright was gowned ’in veU lum georgette with chenille shawl patterned in rose and black. Airs. Eaves.taff was wearing kingfisher blue embossed georgette, with cerise shoulder posy. Airs. Alcßae was gowned in black satin beaute and lace. Aliss Farquhar had on a cherry georgette and gold frock, and sequined bridge coat. Airs. Alunro Clark wore embossed blue georgette. Miss Joy Oliver's picture frock was of apricot georgette. Airs. R. N Reed wore buttercup silk spotted net. Aliss Clarice Lowry’s dainty frock was of white georgette and silver tissue, with handkerchief draperies. Airs. R. Foots was gowned in* black georgette. Aliss G. Gardner was in apple green crepe de chine, with lace overdress. Aliss E. Blackie wore mimosa ring velvet and georgette. Aliss Gwen Hill wore a pretty ciel blue picture frock of silver studded georgette.
