MRS. E. MASSEY Mrs. Elizabeth Massey, wife of Mr. J. B. Massey, of Church Street. Ponsonbv, died on Saturday. Nlrs. Massey, who was born in Auckland, was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. W. R. Waddel, who was a former Mayor of Auckland. Mrs. Massey is survived by one daughter and two sons. The interment took place today at the Purewa Cemetery. MR. H. C. ASHBY Tlib death occurred on Sunday of Mr. Harry C. Ashby, a $ well-known business man of Waihi, at the age of SG. Born at Thames, Mr. Ashby was for many years associated with his father, the late Mr. William Ashby, in carting. The business was extended to Waihi nearly 30 years ago. After his father’s death, Mr. Ashby came to Waihi and carried on until a few months ago, when failing health necessitated bis retirement. Mr. Ashby is survived by his wife and a grown-up family. MR. EDWIN HARROP Nlr. Edwin Harrop, who died on Sunday at his home in Newcastle Terrace, Mount Albert, at the age of 87, was for 50 years a resident of Kawakawa. Mr. Harrop was born at Cheshire, and at the age of 21 was working in the mines there. Eater he was apprenticed to the shipbuilding trade. Mr. Harrop and his wife came to New Zealand in 1870, and after working for the Island Coal Mining Company he commenced a building business in Kawakawa. In 1924 Mr. and Mrs. Harrop celebrated their diamond wedding. Mr. I-larrop was a member of the Masonic Lodge. MR. G. W. TAYLER The death occurred in the Hawera Hospital on Sunday morning of George Washington Tayler, aged 72, after a lesidenco in Eltham of 40 years, during which time he was closely indentified with local and provincial affairs. He was the first Mayor of the borough, a position which he held at times over ten years. He was Eltliam’s representative on the Hawera Hospital Board for 20 years and was also representative on the New Plymouth Harbour Board for many years. He is survived by a widow, two sons and a daughter. His eldest son was killed at Gallipoli.
