LESS ACREAGE. BUT MORE VEGETABLE GOVERNMENT STATISTICS Press Association WELLINGTON. Today. Returns by the Government statistician. based on cards returned by growers of two acres or more, and computations for smaller crops, shows that the total area in planted potatoes in 1925-29 was 21.304 acres, which yielded 54,529 tons of table quality and 39,t)7S other quality, a total of 123.G0T tons. Although the area planted shows a decrease of 359 acres compared to the previous year, the yield shows ar. increase of 4.912 tons of the table quality and a decrease of 2,707 tons of other quality, a total net increase of 2,205 tons.
