MAYOR’S FUND GROWS
£13,000 MARK IN SIGHT By the addition of the City Council’s further grant of 400 guineas, making 500 guineas in all from the corporation, the Mayor of Auckland’s Earthquake Relief Fund has made a large stride toward the £13,000 mark. The following additional contributions are acknowledged by Mr. Baildon :
CENTRAL EARTHQUAKE COMMITTEE The Mayor of Auckland, Mr. G-. Baildon, received a wire this morning from the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, to the effect that the secretary of the Central Earthquake Committee is at presnt visiting the affected areas with a view to coordinating the many committees engaged in relief work on the West Coast. The secretary will report to a meeting of the central committee to be held in Wellington on August 7. Mr. Baildon will attend the meeting.
