ANTI-WAR MOVE
PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD REPEAL OF COMPULSION Arrangements are being made by tbe New Zealand Anti-Military League for the holding, in Auckland . on August 4, of a public meeting to further the aims of the organisation. At the weekly meeting, members decided to change the name of the “No More War Movement” to the Anti-Military League. It is intended to become affiliated with the National Peace Council of New Zealand. When the public meeting is held, the repeal of the Compulsory MilitariService Act will be urged. The league has received from the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, a letter stating that boys under 14 who hold free places at secontlary schools are not required to do military drill. The league will send the letter to Mr. W. J. Jordan. M.P. for Manukau. to support his Bill for the repeal of compulsory training.
