REVENGE PROVES BITTER
GAOL FOR SPITEFUL COOK THEFT FROM HOTEL (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Friday. A petty revenge for his dismissal as a cook from a local hotel was taken by Joseph Bridgernan, 33, who was sentenced to 14 days’ hard labour for theft, in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court today. The police evidence showed that accused went into the room of one of the staff at the hotel from which he had been dismissed that morning and took five £1 notes lying on the floor. Later he gave three of the stolen notes to a man to keep for him pending his departure by service-car to Auckland. The theft was reported to the police, inquiries culminating in the arrest of accused.
