PROTEST AGAINST GAMBLING A protest against the suggested amendments to the Gaming Act enabling totalisator investments to be telegraphed to the secretary of a racing j club, or to be published, has been forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs by the Epsom Women’s Christian Temperance Union. Members who attended the meeting on Tuesday also expressed regret that the ban had been lifted on so-called art unions, and deplored any action by the Government to increase gambling facilities. The meeting warmly endorsed the efforts of Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, to substitute compulsory physical training for military service. An' interesting account of the life of the late Mr. T. E. Taylor, life-long champion of the temperance cause, was read by Mrs. Neal.
