DARGAVILLE DANCE

BAND QUEEN CARNIVAL FUNCTION NOVEL DECORATIONS Original and picturesque decorations created an enchanting scene when the large throng of dancers, in plain and fancy dress, attended the carnival dance at the. Royal Theatre. Dargaville, last Friday evening. The func—tion was organised and run by the. Jazzaramba Dance Band to support the candidature of Miss TVai-ataJi ‘fi'akelin in the North Auckland Regimental Band's Queen Carnival. Exceptionally showery weather kept many away. but a-substantial sum will go to the credit of the queen. Black and gold streamers gracefully fell from a prettily—arranged and most effectively illuminated floral square at the ceiling centre. As if growing from the centre of the floor a. large tree, plotted around with grass sods. almost reached to the centre—piece on the ceiling. Numbers of elec—tric lights in all colours of the rain—bow peeped out from among the foli—age. Chinese lanterns and greenery graced the cabaret tables arranged on the sides of the spacious floor. The stage was set off as a drawing room, which made a. suitable orchestral stand. The committee responsible for the evening wasz—Blessrs. S. Brown, C'. Antonelli. L. Houghton, D. 0. Rush and R. J. Cassidy.
