Cochrane, secretary to the Waikato “Independent'* for the past ten years, and who has resigned owing to ill-health, was farewelled by the proprietor and staff on Saturday, prior to her departure for Rotorua. Penn asked Miss Cochrane to < accept a handsome rug. and all joined |in wisihng her a speedy return to j health. | MUSICAL CIRCLE ENTERTAINS ‘ At its usual fortnightly meeting on i Tuesday afternoon, the Musical Circle of the Lyceum Club entertained Miss Fama. who has just returned to New ; Zealand after five years’ study in Vienna. A very interesting Schubert afternoon was spent, several members giving selections of the composer's works.
