BRIDAL TOILETTE OF PINK AND SILVER BAIRD—DILLY The marriage was celebrated at Pitt j Street Methodist Church on the even- * ing of July 3, of Miss Phyllis AVinifred Dilly, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dilly, to Mr. Jessel Ernest Baird, second son of Mrs. E. Clark. Cameo pink crepe de chine with silver rosettes, composed the bridal frock. Miss Margaret Dilly, in apple green embroidered in orange and green, was bridesmaid to her sister. The best man was Air. Wallace Dilly. The residence of the bride’s mother at Tran mere Road was decorated with pink and white flowers for the reception, Mrs. Dilly wearing navy blue taffeta with touches of cerise. CARD PARTY TO CELEBRATE WEDDING ANNIVERSARY To celebrate their wedding anniversary, Mr. and Airs. W. Williams, of Greenlane, entertained a number of friends at a. card party on Thursday evening. The card room was prettily decorated with early spring blooms. The prize-winners were Airs. S. Cole and Mr. J. Alills, consolation prizes being won by Airs. Alills and All*. Coppins. Airs. AVilliams received the guests wearing a. smart frock of navy blue and cream lace. Among the guests were: Airs. Coppins, who wore figured ring velvet. Miss F. Coppins, in a geranium pink frock. Airs. Alills, wearing floral silk velvet, with a cream shawl. Airs. Stillman, in cocoa-brown silk. Mrs. Radford, who wore rose pink and fawn crepe dc chine, with blue floral shawl. Airs. AVilson, in navy silk and oriental bridge wrap. Airs. S. Cole, who wore red silk velvet and satin, with a black shawl. Airs. D. Rogers, in cinnamon bengaline silk. KITCHEN EVENING BRIDE-ELECT HONOURED Aliss F. Ashwell, who is shortly to bo married, was the guest of honour at a delightful kitchen evening held at the home of Air. and Airs. Sandford on Monday evening. About thirty guests were present and Aliss Ashwell received many useful gifts. A very pleasant evening was passed with games and competitions. During the evening several items were contributed by Air. Ciochetto, Aliss Ciochetto, and Aliss Ashwell.

All*. Sandford expressed the good wishes of all present and wished Aliss Ashwell and her fiance much future happiness.

Y.W.C.A. NEWS BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETS The ordinary meeting of the board of directors of the Y.AV.C.A. was held on Friday morning, Mrs. J. A. Brad street presiding. The devotional period was taken by Airs. T. Clark. It was decided to take part in the street collection for the St. John Ambulance on August 19. A deputation from the Business Girls’ Club discussed with the board the present condition of the club and the future necessity for carrying on, owing to better luncheon facilities being provided in places of employment. It was stated that the Y.AV.C.A. in Queen Street is giving the same service, and it would cost little more for business girls to use the big cafeteria. It was decided to allow a proposal for the consideration of closing down the club to go forward for discussion to the club’s annual meeting to be held next Wednesday evening. A special meeting of the board, having beei held to consider the annual reports of all the departments, the annual meeting was fixed for Monday, July “9, when an interesting programme will be presented. It was reported that a membership contest between the senior clubs and girl citizens was in progress, and that much enthusiasm was being shown. Tho final date of the contest is fixed for S p.m.. on July 19. The two and two campaign of the women’s membership was still in progress, and a steady increase of members was reported. The World Fellowship Fair had been most successful, and votes of thanks were passed to the many generous donors. Airs. J. C. Dickinson reported on the business of the National Council of AVomen. CONVENTION PLANS DISCUSSED Plans for the forthcoming Y.AV.C.A. Convention, to be held in Alarsdon I College, AVellington. were discussed, j and the business introduced by Aliss j Bentham. The Auckland Association hopes to send its full quota of 20 delegates. including five girl members. Aliss Begg, general secretary, reported on the club work and classes. The attendance is being well maintained. and the programmes of *he clubs were of a high standard. There is an acute problem in the club work, owing to the lack of leaders. There has recently been a large influx of girls, and it is imperative that good leadership be forthcoming immediately. After hearing the reports of committees, the meeting closed with the j Benediction. AN ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of I Noelene Flora Lyon, only daughter of j All*, and Airs.
