THAMES INTERESTS
A branch of the Auckland Acclima* tisation Society has been formed in Thames, of which Dr. Liggins is president and Mr. G. H. Shaw secretary. At a meeting on Tuesday several remits were sent on to Auckland for consideration, including a recommendation for a two months’ shooting season for 1930, also the use of cylinders for duck shooting. * ♦ * Sergeant-Major who has been in charge of the Territorial forces in Thames and district forth© past 13 years, left this week for Auckland. Mr. Cossgrove will be stationed at Ponsonby. At the Thames High School he was presented with a case of cutlery by the scholars and teaching staff of the school. * * * A large number of the Masonic fraternity assembled at the Lodge of Light’s hall in Queen Street on Wednesday evening. The occasion was the annual installation and the quarterly communication of the Provincial Grand Lodge. Right Wor. Bro. C. J. Schnauer (Auckland) was installing master and assisting him were Wor. Bros. H. M. Corbett (Ohinemuri) and E. L. Walton (Hauraki Plains). The officers installed for the ensuing year were:—W.M., Bro. W. Jiorrox; T.P.M., Wor. Bro. W. J. Paterson;, S. Bro. H. Driver; J.W., Bro. A. Williams; secretary and treasurer, V.W. Bro. F. McCullough; D. of C., V.W. Bro. E. Watson; chaplain, V.W. Bro. J. Pratt; perceptor, V.W. Bro. McDonald; S.D., Bro. E. Jamieson; J.D., Bro. J. S. Judd; organist, Wor. Bro. T. J. Buchan; T.G., Bro. H. S. Redwood; S.S., Bro. G. Gray; J- S. Bro. L. Gibbons; auditors, Wor. Bro. T. J. Buchan and Bro. A. Lewin. The retiring master, Wor. Bro. W. J. Patterson, was presented with a handsome jewel in appreciation of his services during the past year. The masterr of sister constitutions who assisted at the ceremony were: Wor. Bro. F. J. Causley (Lodge Sir Walter Scott), Wor. Bro. J. Rutland (Ara Lodge, Auckland), and Wor. Bro. G. H. Shaw (Corinthian Lodge, Thames). # At the conclusion of the installation an enjoyable supper was served in the Miners’ Union Hall.
