No Architect Has Been Appointed

WAIKATO EXPLAINS SUBJECT TO BE REOPENED (From Our Oicn Correspondent) HAMILTON, Today. “The Waikato Hospital Board had no intention of appointing an unregistered architect,” said Mr. E. G. Johnson, secretary of the board, today. Mr. Johnson added that the position had been entirely misconstrued by Auckland architects when commenting in The Sun yesterday. A special meeting of the board would be held next Thursday to reconsider all the applications, said Mr. Johnson. The position was somewhat anomalous. In point of fact, no one had been appointed architect, because according to the regulations only a registered man could fill the vacancy. Oil the board’s voting, an architect had been selected, but at the time it Avas not realised that he was unregistered. Therefore no appointment lias actually become effective, and the whole question will be reopened next week. The late architect, Mr. J. W. Warren, proposed that the board allow him to complete the neAV maternity block. Conditionally upon this being done, he AA’ould resign and assist the new architect.
