PROF. GILBERT .MURRAY MENTIONED NO CONFIRMATION RECEIVED (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) WASHINGTON, Thursday. Professor Gilbert. Murray is mentioned prominently In diplomatic circles in Washington as the next British Ambassador to the United States. It is suggested that he may come at a relatively early date, and that Sir Esme Howard may retire before February, when he is due to leave Washington. Reed. 9.30 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. Official quarters at Dawning- Street know nothing of the report that Protessor Gilbert Murray will he the next Ambassador at Washington.
