ANOTHER CLUB FORMED PROMINENT TENNIS PLAYERS By SHUTTLE A significant development in Badminton circles has been made during the week with the formation of a new* club to play twice a week in the St. James’s Hall. This club has a basis of good tennis players, and should soon be of pronounced strength. Alessrs. C. and A'. 11. Johns and R. D. Bartlett, all of the Eden and Epsom Tennis Club, are well-known tennis players associated -with the new club. Of women players the club has ALisses Ramsay and Newton (Eden and Epsom) f and Airs. Needham (Parnell). The experienced Badminton players include Air. and Airs. Alassam and Air. Shaw, all of whom have been associated with the club that has played the Saturday afternoon club of past years. The Parnell club has two promising women recruits in the Alisses Dodd, both of whom have had some previous experience of the game. Finals of the Northern tournament will be played at Alangere tonight, and the contingent going out from town should see first-class matches, particularly in the men’s singles, which will open the programme. Finalists are: Alen’s Singles.—E. Dart v. T. Kelly. Men's Doubles.—E. Dart and C. Ellett v. T. Kelly and J. G. McLean. Alixed Doubles.—E. Dart and Aliss B. Solomon v. C. Ellett and Aliss D. Ellett. Dart figures in all the finals, and will have a strenuous evening. He and Mrs. Dart, wh ? have done much to establish Badminton in Auckland, leave shortly on an extended visit to Australia. A meeting to wind up the affairs of the old Auckland club, which gave way to the present Parnell club, will be held next Tuesday. There is a financial surplus, which will probably be devoted to the general advancement of the game. Air. Bell, the president of the New Zealand Badminton Association, who held the same post in the late club, is playing now at St. Aidan’s. The Kelbufn club (Wellington) has affiliated with the N.Z.B.A.
