WINTER SHOW FOR TE KUITI

NEW ASSOCIATION FORMED (From Our Own Correspondent) TE KUITI, Thursday. Business and professional men met in Te Kuiti on Wednesday evening, and decided to form an association to be known as the Te Kuiti and District Winter Show Association. The object of the association is the holding of an annual winter show in Te Kuiti, and the first show will be held on June 28 and 29. 111 connection with this event local shopkeepers are to be asked to co-operate in making the show a special attraction, and special lighting and street decorations are to be carried out. In moving that an association be formed, Mr. W. J. Broadfoot said there was a feeling of optimism right down the centre portion of the North Island, and the time was opportune as far as the King Country was concerned to mako its wares known. The holding of a show and the forwarding of selected exhibits from such a fixture to the Auckland Winter Show was an ideal means to that end. The formation of the association was the outcome of a previous meeting of the committee of the King Country Central A. and P. Association and the Te Kuiti Chamber of Commerce, when Messrs. Whyte and Douglas were appointed to canvass the business people with regard to the project. Enthusiastic support was forthcoming, and considerable interest shown. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P.; president, Mr. S. R. Craig; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. Sutherland and H. Douglas; executive committee, Messrs. J. W. Cochrane, S. Holab, J. Powdrill, S. Aymes, J. Harrison, H. Boles and A. French; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. W, Whyte; auditor, Air. M. A. Horne. It is proposed to have two Moth planes in the town on show days, and if the weather is favourable opportunity will be given the public of indulging in short flights around the district.
