TWO OUTBREAKS IN HOUSE
GUTTED BY SECOND FIRE A lire which broke out in an unoccupied and unfurnished house at 6 Totara Street, Ponsonby, at about 6.45 o’clock last evening, and which damaged two rooms, was successfully extinguished by the City Fire Brigade. About nine hours later the fire started again, and this time the house was completely gutted before the brigade could reach it. The cause of the two outbreaks is unknown. The house was owned by Mr. Smith and was insured in the Mercantile and General Office for £ 500.
